Fonab Castle, Pitlochry to Culloden House, Inverness (110 miles)
12th May 2022
One of our best days so far! Today, we enjoyed panoramic views of secluded lochs, ancient woodlands and dramatic mountains. It felt like we were going downhill all day on one long descent 😁.
We saw four Firths in one day as well as Clava Cairns, an ancient burial site. Kevin, our amazing guide from 42 Cycling (@42cycling), continues to educate us with interesting facts all day.
We passed through the famous ski resort of Aviemore, surrounded by snow capped mountains.
Our final climb was Struie, a prominent ridge above the Dornoch Firth, and and we were rewarded with the most spectacular views.
We are feeling very emotional that it’s our last tomorrow - tempted to turn around and cycle back again!
Goodbye Fonab - we loved our stay!
So close 🚴🏻♀️
Awesome! Enjoy that last day - hope it’s downhill and there is a party at the end xx
ReplyDeleteYes, lots of downhill and a great tailwind to help us along! Couldn't wait for our celebratory party... it's been quite a journey.
Delete300 miles in three days is something else. !!
ReplyDeleteOver 1000 miles in 11 days was quite a challenge but amazing to see the UK - from the bottom to the top and everything in between!
DeleteBeautiful pic. Your tops blending in with the tree. When I was a child we used to ski in Aviemore! Not the same as the Alps 🤣. You are really nailing it. Last day today. I’m sure there will be tears of joy and all sorts !🚴 I hope today is amazing 🥰 well done and Bravo . Susie
ReplyDeleteThere was snow on the mountain tops, Susie! We did it 😆. There were tears of joy and a lot of other reasons... so happy that we made it. 😘
DeleteWhat an amazing feat - you should all be so very proud of yourselves (particularly those of you who started from Lands End!!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your support! We made it... with a lot of stories to tell 😊
